Teaching without tooltips
Great puzzle levels teach inside the grid. An early free edge clear demonstrates the path rule. A short stack teaches patience. A later board combines both under denser packing. Players feel coached even when no text appears.

Where are the obvious exits right now? Which region looks like the intended tension? If I clear a tempting edge, does it unlock the tension or only tidy a side quest?
Those questions mirror the designer’s dials: exits, density, dependencies. Using them turns every level into a short conversation with the person who built it. You will still miss reads. You will miss fewer of the unfair feeling kind, because you are hunting structure instead of hoping.
